Wisconsin Assembly committee approves anti-heroin bills
Lawmakers in Madison are moving ahead with a group of bills to fight heroin use. The Assembly’s health committee approved a package of bills today. Under the proposed requirements . pharmacists would have to enter opiate prescriptions into a state database within 24 hours . police who find a prescription drug at an overdose scene would have to enter it into the database . and treatment programs using methadone would have to report the number of people receiving the medication. All of the proposals were approved unanimously . and will now head to the Assembly for full votes.
