The Department of Public Administration and Policy

(music playing) I believe that the most noble human endeavor is service. We’re providing innovative education for our students in this nexus of law, policy and public service. My name is Dr. Sara Rinfret. I’m the chair of the Department of Public Administration and Policy. We provide a space for students to advance their careers in public service. We want to make sure that students have an accessible education, so we provide the opportunity to take courses through online learning, in person and, most excitingly, the robot opportunity. DPAP is our newest program. We started as a way to carry forward Max’s legacy of public service. The idea of having that program be part of the Institute made all the sense in the world to us. Law and policy are really two sides of the same coin, and so, the thought behind having DPAP
program to be part of the institute was to bring those two together in a more
formal, sort of thoughtful way. Part of our curriculum includes the opportunity for students to specialize in nonprofit administration. We offer a variety of courses at different levels including a minor in nonprofit administration, a specialized track within the Masters of Public Administration and a fully online, professional certificate in nonprofit administration. The Department of Public Administration and Policy is the first-ever department of its kind in the state, and this is a new national, innovative model that’s coming out of the University of Montana, and we’re really excited to share
that with our students. Explore the great graduate and undergraduate programs in public administration, law and policy offered by the Department of Public Administration and policy at the University of Montana.
