The Swedish royal family were pictured attending the state opening of parliament in Stockholm yesterday  And despite being all smiles on arrival, busy mother-of-two Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, 42, was soon seen appearing to nod off as the opening speeches got into full swing  A newly emerged video sees the heir apparent, and her mother Queen Silvia, 75, enjoying a few moments of shut-eye as Prime Minister Stefan Löfven read the government declaration Victoria’s personal trainer husband Daniel Westling, 45, was seen looking solemn as he watched the speeches, while the heir apparent was seen battling to keep her eyes open, before glancing around Meanwhile her mother Sylvia, sitting two seats down, could be seen apparently dozing off before jolting up in surprise   At one point the two royals could be seen closing their eyes in synchrony King Carl XVI, 73, sat between the women looking attentive, and seemed unaware of their plight The family’s exhausted appearance could be down to a busy few days, which saw them move on to the opening night of the national assembly at Stockholm’s concert hall just a few hours later  The Swedish King, 73, who is the second-longest reigning monarch in Swedish history, took to the throne in 1973 and survived the country’s landmark constitution the following year, and has an active role in public duties, albeit mainly ceremonial The King and his wife Silvia, née Sommerlath, 75, a German-Brazilian former flight attendant, have been handing over increasing numbers of engagements to their eldest daughter Victoria in recent years, fuelling speculation that the monarch may abdicate, allowing the Crown Princess to take the throne His daughter Crown Princess Victoria, 42, studied diplomacy and Swedish foreign policy before becoming a full-time working member of the royal family The glamorous Yale graduate, who speaks four languages, was not expected to take to the throne when she was born in 1977 but a change in the law of succession three years later changed that, allowing her to overtake her brother Carl Philip In 2010, she married her former personal trainer Daniel Westling, 45, in front of 1,200 guests at Stockholm Cathedral, and have since settled comfortably into public life with their two children, Princess Estelle, seven, and Prince Oscar, three Meanwhile Victoria’s brother, Sweden’s real-life Prince Charming, broke the hearts of royal-watchers across the globe when he announced his engagement to former glamour model Sofia Hellqvist in 2014, four years after news of their relationship first hit headlines Prince Carl Philip, 40, who is dyslexic, dismissed reports that his fiancée was ‘not welcome’ in the House of Bernadotte and condemned the public ‘bullying’ of Sofia Regardless of the controversy, thousands lined the streets of Stockholm for their wedding later that year The couple welcomed their first son, Prince Alexander, in April 2016 and another little boy, Prince Gabriel, arrived in August the following year
