N. Korea developing ICBM would pose direct threat to U.S. mainland: Esper

US defense secretary mark Esper warned
that if North Korea develops an intercontinental ballistic missile it
will pose a direct threat to the US mainland speaking at the Council on
Foreign Relations in New York on Friday Esper warned that Pyongyang already has
nuclear weapons and that they’re trying to develop long-range missiles stressing
that war on the Korean Peninsula would be horrible and nobody wants to see that
happening the US defense secretary said that Washington is trying hard to bring
Pyongyang back to the negotiating table though stressing that the threat of
North Korea’s nuclear and missile program should be resolved through
diplomacy Esper said Washington is maintaining a
heightened readiness posture should negotiations fall through
