Mullin Appointed Again to be Speaker pro Tempore of State Assembly
Hi, I’m Assemblymember Kevin Mullin and I’m proud to represent San Mateo County in the California State Assembly. Welcome to another edition of Capitol Connection, my video message series designed to keep my constituents updated on what’s happening at the State Capitol. I Kevin Mullin… do solemnly swear… that I will support and defend… At the Assembly’s organizational session on December 5th, I was very proud to be sworn-in again as Speaker pro Tem of the California State Assembly. I am grateful to Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon for this appointment, which allows me to be a voice for San Mateo County on our leadership team. As Speaker pro Tem, I will preside over Assembly floor sessions, make parliamentary rulings and ensure smooth operations of the Assembly as we do the people’s business. The Assembly has consistently demonstrated that bi-partisan cooperation and civility works. I am proud to play a role in facilitating that civil debate from the rostrum as we address California’s most pressing issues. There is no question that our state and our country face many challenges and we must work together to find common ground and create solutions for all of our residents. I also want to provide you with a brief overview of my activities outside of the Capitol during this past year. I attended the International Bio-Conference in San Francisco where I met with biotech industry leaders and toured exhibits of the latest developments in this increasingly critical field. My office enjoyed hosting and participating in a wide variety of district events, giving me the opportunity to connect with constituents and hear your thoughts and ideas. Some highlights include: My Annual Open House with State Senator Jerry Hill, Quarterly coffees with constituents throughout the district, Coffees with clergy, Pets 101 in partnership with the Peninsula Humane Society – including free pet adoption, A series of Senior Scam Stopper events that educate seniors on the always evolving scams they should be on the look out for, Health and Safety Fairs and Connect 16 my annual technology and government conference. I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve a third term and I look forward to continuing my work on your behalf. Some of the issues I will continue to pursue are: transportation infrastructure and congestion relief, affordable housing, clean tech and voter access to strengthen our democracy. Look for more information on my legislative agenda in the next edition of Capitol Connection early next year. I want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and a healthy, happy 2017. Thank you for watching.
