Moss. V. Chemung County Legislature

Moss. V. Chemung County Legislature

TODAY IN COURT THE CHEMUNG COUNTY LEGISLATURE WAS SERVED A SECOND LAWSUIT BY CHEMUNG COUNTY EXECUTIVE CHRIS MOSS IN THIS MOST RECENT SUIT, MOSS CLAIMS THE LEGISLATURE ACTED IMPROPERLY WHEN IT AMENDED THE COUNTY CHARTER TO CLEAR UP ANY AMBIGUITIES RELATED TO THE LEGISLATIVE ATTORNEY POSITION. THE ISSUE WAS ARGUED TODAY AT THE CHEMUNG COUNTY SUPREME COURT. THEY DISCUSSED TIME LINE OF EVENTS AND THE ROLL OF THE LEGISLATURES ATTORNEY. WE CAUGHT UP WITH CHRISTINA SONSIRE TO GET HER TAKE ON TODAYS EVENTS. CHRISTINA SONSIRE – it’s really the conflict of interest in having an attorney for the legislature who has to answer to the county attorney who then answers to the county executive arguably could create a conflict situation particularly when the legislature takes a position that is at odds with the executive WE REACHED OUT TO CHRIS MOSS FOR COMMENT BUT HAVE NOT HEARD BACK. WE WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THIS STORY AND BING YOU UPDATES AS THEY DEVELOP. HORSEHEADS POLICE A RELEASING
