MEMBERS HAVING A TOUGH TIME WITH THIS TRAGEDY. STATE LAWMAKERS RETURN TO RALEIGH TOMORROW FOR A SPECIAL SESSION. GOVERNOR MCCRORY WANTS 200 MILLIONS TO HELP VICTIMS OF HURRICANE MATTHEW. BUT SOME ARE ASK WHAT ELSE MAY COME UP DURING THE SESSION? WE TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ISSUE. NOW THEY’RE TRYING TO OVERTURN THE WILL OF THE VOTERS BY ADDING TWO NEW SEATS TO THE COURT. THAT POLITICAL AD WILL START AIRING TONIGHT IN THE GROENSBORO AND CHARLOTTE MARKETS. THE GROUP THAT CREATED THE ADD, COMMON CAUSE NORTH CAROLINA SAYS THERE’S A POSSIBILITY THE REPUBLICAN LED GENERAL ASSEMBLY COULD ADD TWO SEATS TO THE COURT. COURT. IT JUST STRIKES US AS A NAKED PARTISAN POWER GRAB FOR THEM TO TALK ABOUT ADDING TWO MORE SEATS THAT GOVERNOR MCCRORY WOULD APPOINT. FOLLOWING THE NOVEMBER ELECTION, THE STATE SUPREME COURT NOW WILL HAVE A DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY ADDING TWO SEATS COULD CHANGE THAT. RESIDENTS HAVE SPOKEN. I DON’T KNOW WHY WE WOULD NEED TWO TO PACK THE COURTS RIGHT NOW. REPUBLICANS AT THE GENERAL ALEM BLI MAINTAIN THERE’S NO PLANS TO DO SO.
