J.D. Scholten Urges Public to Make Their Voices Heard During RFS Public Comment Period

Today, we’re here in front of Lincolnway Energy
in Nevada, Iowa, talking about renewable fuels and in this district, we are the #1 district
in renewable fuels and in the state of Iowa, there’s 42 ethanol plants. The reason that this might be most important
is that if we plan to get to decarbonize or become carbon neutral for this planet, renewable
fuels are part of that equation. Right now, this Administration is abusing
the Renewable Fuel Standard. They’re handing out these small refinery exemptions
like treats on Halloween and they’re going to companies to “small refineries” like Chevron
and Exxon. As a result, it’s depressing our corn prices. On August 9th, 31 waivers were passed and
it immediately dropped corn prices by 10 percent, which was a record in August. We need to fight back against this EPA because
they submitted a “plan” that fails to address the four billion gallons that they’ve wasted. If this matters to you, if you care about
our planet, if you care about rural jobs and the rural Iowa economy, or the Midwest economy,
let your voices be heard. Right now, there’s a public comment period
that the EPA has until the end of the month in November now. So, let your voices be heard in the link that’s
provided. Thank you so much.
