Government to regulate paramedics across the country

The Government’s announced they will be now be regulating
all paramedics across the country. They’ll be registered under the Health Practitioners
Competence Assurance Act which aligns them
with other countries around the world
where registration is compulsory. It’s to ensure all medical officials
are appropriately trained and qualified to a high standard. Health Minister David Clark says
this has been a long time coming. The regulation will come
into effect on January 1 and is expected to cost
1.4 million dollars in its first year.
