Cabinet reshuffle to speed up after President Park returns from UAE: Pundits
President Park is expected to start the process
of identifying a new prime minister and carrying out a major cabinet reshuffle upon her arrival
back in Korea on this Wednesday. Pundits are looking carefully at who will
be the president’s candidate for prime minister, with the current PM Chung Hong-won offering
to resign to take responsibility for the government’s lax response to the Sewol-ho ferry disaster.
Speculation is rife that an announcement on the prime minister could come as early as
this week as it’s already been three weeks since Chung offered to step down.
The fisheries and public administration ministries will be shaken up top to bottom with both
ministers facing the chop.
