  1. No they should not change the rules. It is 30 years old why is this black matter. If you were white case then it would not be a case. Cut it and go back or find another school.

  2. I would maybe have some sympathy with the schools side of the argument if they had been upholding their (already established) rule all the time this kid has been attending their school. They clearly haven't though, his hair didn't grow to that length over night! A great shame that they seem to place more importance on dress code than academic achievement. Not a good thing to be seen to be so hypocritical if they are really caring about the schools reputation.

  3. They are standing rules he should cut his hair. There is a time and place for things. This is not it. The time to fight was months ago. They could have got a waver of some kind.

  4. It's about white people always trying to regulate black hair. I don't know why black peoples hair offends white people. I really don't.

  5. That's gender discrimination anyway! Not even racial, it's nothing to do with race, this is an OLD rule that has no place in today's world whatsoever.

  6. You cannot make rules for the black community on the basis of hair. If you understand black people hair you would have made a separate and different rule for them. That goes to show how ignorant the other races are when it comes to this wonderful group of people . Please understand we are, of a different kind.

  7. So why didn't they make him cut it a long time ago? They collected that tax payer money for this kid and didn't enforce the rules.

  8. To be in compliance the student should simply twist them back and pin them up. Cutting the dreads is a drastic and unnecessary move when the code advises to merely be off the collar. Additionally, and to be fair, their code wasn't written to include students of color and cultural differences which is separate from race or racism Mr. Barber across the street from the school.

  9. All those ugly chilli bowl haircut those lil white boys wear pass their ears I bet no one bother them…looking like bill & Ted

  10. No!!!! he should not have to cut his hair that is a old outdated School rule, that should never have been a rule in the first place.. that is control. Thats his hair growing out of his head that is his belief and his culture. Black people when these schools get like this you have to homeschool them..SMMFH

  11. of course the barbra going to support such money getting him. 30 years… and since 7th grade? please. its not like people to choose to go to school in there city sometimes they have no choice.

  12. DO NOT CUT YOUR HAIR…
TIE YOUR HAIR IN A UPWARD POSITION GRADUATE AND THEN GO TO FEDERAL COURT. WHAT IM HEARING IS THAT YOU CANNOT (wear) THE HAIR IN YOUR FACE OR BELOW YOUR EAR…THE BARBER STATED THIS SO JUST TOE IT UP AND GET THE HELL OITTA THAT GROOMING SCHOOL AND FIGHT THIS WHILE YOU ARE PROGRESSING ACADEMICALLY. THIS WAS MEANT TO KEEP YOU FROM YOUR GOAL.
THEY BOOK WILL ALLOW YOU TO COMPLY IN THEIR OWN WORDS…TIE IT UP/ STUDENT CAN TEACH ALSO AND IN SOME CASES ARE SMARTER THEN THEIR… TEACHERS

  13. Student with dreads since 7th grade: I'm gonna graduate!
Non diverse school district: We about to ruin this kids education.

  14. For those that don't know, THIS is why people were livid about that Japanese fashion show with the models wearing fake braids. Black folks are still penalized for being natural, while others just throw on our look because its "trendy", and are celebrated. 🤦🏻‍♂️

  15. I’m confused about the barber…..a school can’t send a minor across the street to get a hair cut but someone they hire without the parents permission right?

  16. "Its by far not a race issue" says the white boomer barber who is cutting another boomer's hair while wearing an American flag barber apron haha… Absolutely zero tact how absurd.

  17. I'm glad i went to an all black high school. And this is the reason i would never want to move to texas. Plus these regulations are bias because having locs doesn't mean one's unprofessional. I've seen doctors and lawyers with locs. I myself am a military vet and working on my doctorate. And i plan to grow mine till they touch the ground. I wish someone would ask me to cut my hair…

  18. A community supported rule? What community was this? Not the black community that's for damn sure.

All this coming from a man who uses the AMERICAN FLAG as a draping to repel hair shavings. The flag isn't meant to be used as props or attire or anything else.
Get that part correct before you give your opinion on black hair matters Mr Barbershop man

  19. It’s racist and sexist. It’s TEXAS.

The young man is a good student and well mannered, wtf has his hair to do with any of this?!! Take hair off of the dress code. Let him back in school. Let him graduate and walk the line.

Hey texas, it’s not 1950 anymore.
