Armenian Genocide – Erdogan Responds Armenian Minister (Eng. Subs) Armenia Lies on Armenian Genocide
You use the expression: “Massacred Christians, Massacred Armenians.” What is the basis for such statement? It is very dirty approach! What evidence do you have to support such conclusion? Right now the Armenian’s Minister of Foreign Affairs is among us. Look, I issued my invitation. I wrote a letter in 2005. I can repeat again. We have released our archives And to date over a million documents regarding the issue have been catalogued. If there is any evidence in Armenian archives, let them release them too. Let’s catalogue them as well. We suggest to commission archaeologist, historians, political scientists and lawyers to investigate and study the issue. If there are related archive data in any third countries, let’s look at them too. And only after that us, politicians, should agree the conclusion. But without such documental basis, Just denounce Turkey by repeating “In 1915 such genocide was committed” Is never honourable state of affairs. Our society and our culture has never embraced anything even resembling the concept of “genocide”. And it is not possible for us to accept that. We are ready for discussion on this topic at any point of time on the basis of facts and documents. And we invite Armenia to prepare itself in a similar fashion. But it is not possible to force us to accept allegations of genocide by behind the scenes lobbying effort in the parliaments of various countries. They can keep labelling us in this manner as much as they want. We shall never agree with that There is no such thing! But let them produce their proofs. After that , if necessary, we will account for our history. And I am saying that clearly and openly! With respect to Mr. Oskanyan’s question regarding diplomatic issues between our countries. Look Mr. Oskanyan, when I became Prime Minister, You know there was no air traffic between Armenia and Turkey. I took office and opened that air traffic exchange corridor. And now, there are regular scheduled cargo fights between Armenia and Istanbul. Second. To send the message of good will, There is Lake Van on the east of my country. There is island of Akdamar on that lake. On that island there is Armenian, Related to Armenian citizens of our country, Christian Orthodox Church. This Church collapsed. We have restored and renovated this Church. And opened it’s doors to our Armenian citizens, As well as to tourists coming from abroad. We wanted this to be message of good will. There are over 40 thousands of Armenians living in Turkey, Who came here from abroad. Why those Armenians fleeing to my country? In any event, there are no any issues between us and our Armenian citizens. Our relations are perfect. But now in addition to them, 40 thousands more Armenians came to my country. Ok – why did they come ? You should all ask yourselves – why ? Of all the places in the world including Armenian itself, why did they prefer come to Turkey? Because Turkey is a country of piece. That is why they are coming. I also want to emphasise that. On the issue of Nagorno Karabakh, You know the issue delayed because of Minsk group still cannot resolve this. But the world accepted Armenia as an aggressor in Nagorno Karabakh. Leave Karabakh! Withdraw your army! Let the thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis return to their lands. They are also our brothers too. Why are you also not approaching this situation in a constructive manner ? Let this be your contributions to the peace. Who seized whose lands, who drove whom away and who committed genocide, The events that occurred in Nagorno Karabakh clearly demonstrate.
