Aaron Lewis – It’s Been Awhile (Acoustic) // Country Rebel HQ Session

It’s been awhile Since I could Hold my head up high it’s been awhile Since I first saw you And it’s been awhile Since I could stand On my own two feet again And it’s been awhile Since I could call you Everything I can’t remember As fucked up as it all may seem And consequences that were rendered I’ve stretched myself beyond my means And it’s been awhile Since I could say That I wasn’t addicted It’s been awhile Since I could say I loved myself as well And it’s been awhile Since I’ve gone and Fucked things up Just like I always do And it’s been awhile But all that shit Seems to disappear When I’m with you Everything I can’t remember As fucked up as it all may seem The consequences that were rendered I’ve gone and fucked things up again Again… Why must I feel this way? Just make this go away Just one more peaceful day It’s been awhile Since I could Look at myself straight And it’s been awhile Since I said, “I’m sorry” And it’s been awhile Since I’ve seen the way The candles light your face And it’s been awhile But I can still remember Just the way you taste Everything I can’t remember As fucked up as it all may seem to be I know it’s me I cannot blame this on my father He did the best he could for me And it’s been awhile Since I could Hold my head up high And it’s been awhile Since I said, “I’m sorry”

  1. Aaron Lewis you should come back and do acoustic album 👍👍 big up from England I would much rather listen to this than all this ed sheeran shite 😂 come on Aaron show them how it's done !!!

  2. Thank you Aaron. Your voice and lyrics have got me through so much. I'm sure I speak for many others too. Wether it's heavy or even country. You keep inspiring. 🤘

  3. Ok I just rediscovered you haven’t heard you since the 2000s when you sang this.. you sir, are awesome! Soo good

  4. I love this song….I was going through a divorce when it was first released. So this song had a very strong meaning to me. My interpretation of the lyrics is it is about a break up. I know some interpreted it about substance abuse. But either way the song is great and if it helped the person through that difficult situation I think Aaron would be happy to know that it touched people in a positive way.

  5. The first time I ever heard this song I seriously thought he was Layne Staley from Alice and Chains. I get turning this into a semi country song, but I miss the realness and rawness of the original version.

  6. I know now that this song helped me change my life for the better some twenty years ago, but lately I am reminded that I am still lost without the love from a dear friend I just lost on July 17, 2019. What I am hoping for is another great song like this from Staind. I love Aaron Lewis's voice, but the country music does not work for me. I miss all the anger and hurt he felt in his life in those early years of his career.

  7. 1999 and me and my Friend (named Aaron) bought 2 tickets to a Korn concert in Phoenix. The ticket said Korn with opener No Fx. We get his Dad to drive 4 hours to check us into the hotel. I was 16 my friend was 17. When it came time for the concert we got inside the arena and were just walking around planning our attack to run from the seats to the floor once the lights went out. I noticed a banner behind the curtain for the stage and I could of swore it said staind. I freaked out and asked my friend to confirm and he did. We couldnt believe it. We had been jamming out to dysfunction all year long and were huge Staind fans. But we were like our tickets said NoFx. So when the show started and it was Staind we lost our minds. We couldnt believe it. I couldn't have asked for a better band to get us hyped for Korn. They were amazing. I'll never forget that night. Both Staind and Korn freaking killed it. Guiness book of Records was there and they confirmed it to be at the time the loudest indoor concert ever!! Good times.

  8. Aaron. I've struggled with alcohol addiction for so many years. I've gone 2 weeks sober, and struggled…… I watched this video and you've given me hope again brother!

My drinking has effect me and my band (Jupiter Falls) massively. I don't know where to turn mate, but this song has given me a little faith in myself. Thank you so much

  9. As the big Staind that I am. I think Aaron needs to throw the hat in the ringer. His voice is very tired, and doesnt sound as good as it used too. This is what improper singing does.

I love the song, but his voice cant do it any longer.

  10. Have you ever had a moment where the song is so good, you freeze in your tracks just to let yourself sink in?

  11. hey Aaron I just wanted to let you know that if you weren't for you I would have taken my life a long time ago You've kept me going through all these years especially through my dad's death when I was only 18 I beat addiction to your songs and I've learned to move on because of right here another one of your songs that I think should be forever eternal and if you haven't heard it reading this listen to it best acoustic song and vocals all time thanks man I really wanted to just tell you that you mean a lot to me and I know the rest of the rocker community
